			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I just read on <a title="Marc Becker has died." href="http://http://triathlon.competitor.com/2009/12/news/ironguides-founder-marc-becker-has-died_6222" target="_blank">Competitor.com</a> that Marc Becker has died.</p>
<p>This is a great loss for the Ironman  Triathlon community. Marc was an accomplished triathlete in his own right going under 1:50 for Olympic distance (non-drafting) and sub-4 hour for Half Ironman.</p>
<p>He was however more famous in recent times for his unique training programs, especially for Half Ironman and Ironman. Marc combined the secrets he learned from Chrissie Wellington&#8217;s triathlon coach Brett Sutton (perhaps the best triathlon coach of all-time), with his understanding of what works for real people who have real jobs. He then turned it into a system he called &#8220;The Method&#8221; and was training other coaches.</p>
<p>I have great respect for Marc and have personally followed his training programs with great results. I was even considering becoming a certified Ironguides coach. It is a shame he has left us.</p>
